background

Canon Point: Post-LB6, Cosmos in the Lostbelt.

Light doesn't recall all that much before crash-landing in the Johto region, other than vague recollections: something about a 'Singularity', white hallways, and 'Lostbelts'... but the more they try to remember, the further out of reach it seems. A traveler found them, accompanied by a strange beast - a horse covered in fire - and guided them back to Violet City. Apparently, strange happenings around the Ruins of Alph aren't all that unusual, and there'd been stories of travelers losing their memories after coming in contact with the Unown within the ruins.

Which is why they ought to have a Pokémon with them, the traveler said - a Pokémon being...? If they don't know even that much, then they should really catch something easy to train, the traveler continued, and handed them a red and white sphere. A Pidgey pecked at the grass looking for seeds, oblivious to the world around it. With a fateful throw, Light's adventure was about to begin...

personality

Light by nature is mild, friendly, and curious, but gets stressed easily. They try to avoid conflict with people, but have a tendency to get involved anyway, especially against their better judgment. They would like to get along with new people, but they're suspicious and guarded, especially with someone charismatic. Hates butterflies. Light's mind is always working to map out a potential battlefield, even when they don't expect to be thrust into a battle; it's a force of habit, though why they needed to make it a habit, they don't know. Even when they try to relax, they can't seem to fully let loose. They cooperate with Team Destiny's research staff, but they're suspicious and curious about why the team might be amassing this kind of information, and might be seen poking around to try and uncover any suspicious activity. Still, despite the weird situation, they're fascinated by this world and the creatures in it, and can't help but want to sightsee. They have the tendency to spoil their Pokémon.

items & abilities

Light still bears markings in the shape of a falling star on their right hand, which they know to be called 'Command Spells', but they no longer function. They used to be able to cast Magecraft using items called Mystic Codes (not that they know what those are anymore), but without having access to any, they can't cast magic, either. For all intents and purposes, they're a typical person with particularly high physical endurance. They still have the uniform they were wearing when they fell, but rarely wear it, opting for more casual clothes.

background

Canon Point: Post-Endwalker.

In Yako's old world - as best as she can recall - she'd been a hero who'd saved the world many times over. She doesn't really remember the circumstances leading to an interdimensional spitting her out in the middle of a big city, but the Warrior of Light (yeah, that was her title, right?) doesn't just give up because something unexpected happens. The memory loss, that's a little more of a problem... After wandering aimlessly around Castelia City for a while, a few people in weird outfits tracked her down and invited her to their research base, and... like... sure, it's sketchy, but it's not like she has anything better to do - and if they want to cause problems, she'd like to see them try.

The next few days were a bit of a blur as she tried to get acclimated to the flood of new information. This was a world where people worked together with the monsters dotting the landscape, many of which had some kind of sentience, and also a world where particularly powerful monsters could disrupt the fabric of spacetime. Okay. No problem. So what's she supposed to do about it? Well... Not a lot until the eggheads can find a way to send her home. Might as well enjoy her time here, then. See the sights, or enjoy the lodgings. Whatever the mood, there's a big world out there, and Yako means to explore as much of it as she can.

personality

Yako might be hot-blooded, glory-seeking, and egoistic, but she has a mean protective streak in her for those she's sworn to protect. No matter what she puts her mind to, she'll stubbornly see her mission to its end, even if it makes more problems for her down the line. She can't stand by when she sees something bad happening; meddling is in her blood. Her ego comes from proof - even if she can't remember those hard-won battles, the scars are still on her body to remind her that she's survived everything the world has thrown at her, and that she'll keep going. In recent years, her quick temper has mellowed out. She doesn't consider herself studious or smart, but when something catches her fascination, she'll spend days reading every book on the subject and learning all she can about it. In particular, she's fascinated by Pokémon and has been trying to learn everything she can about how they work, what makes them tick, and what kinds of habitats they live in.

items & abilities

In her old world, she'd been a rogue and a gunbreaker; the reflexes and training from both job paths are still fresh in her muscle memory, and she doesn't skimp on training. When the going gets tough, Yako can surpass her own limitations - a power called Hero's Conviction by others. She has no way of knowing whether her Blessing of Light is still intact, since she doesn't hear Hydaelyn here. Her gunblade stays in her room at Destiny's Key, but she still carries two crystal daggers on her person, never quite feeling comfortable without them. Around her neck, she wears a red neckscarf, and under her shirt, she wears a sun-colored stone on a leather cord.
