humanity's last hope

Chaldea Security Organization: Finis Chaldea. The UN-backed observatory of human history, meant to guide humanity to the right path and safeguard its accomplishments. ...Of course, this was only revealed to Light when they walked in the doors, certain that they had applied for a one-year contract role at a remote observatory to help with data entry for a suspiciously large payout. Their stats across the board were low, almost to the point of disqualification, but their resonance with Servants was at the level of Chaldea's own Kirschtaria Wodime. Of course, passing out from mana drain tends to disqualify someone from combat operations regardless. Light lay on the floor until a sudden explosion shook them awake, and a red-haired doctor helped get them off the floor; but against their better judgment, they ran away from safety and towards the source of the explosion, a burst of heroism unfolding in their cowardly heart out of a desperation to help someone survive. The room was a mess of bodies and debris, but a girl reached her hand out, begging for someone to hold it... and so Light did, forming a contract in that moment with the Demi-Servant, Mash Kyrielight.

Over the next year following Singularity F, Chaldea, under the direction of Doctor Romani Archaman and Technical Advisor Leonardo da Vinci, would deploy Light and Mash to each Singularity (a rip in the fabric of time and space where Demon Pillars attempted to undo essential knots of history) to recover fragments of the power of the Holy Grail and restore the Singularity to ultimately reverse the complete incineration of humanity, past and future.

remnant / cosmos

The year following Mash and Romani's deaths went by in a blur, with da Vinci taking over Chaldea's functions in the absence of a Director. Few Singularities appeared this year, though the ones that appeared were still unusually strong, being propped up by remnants of the Demon God Pillars who fled from Goetia to avoid being destroyed. Salem, Shinjuku, Shimousa, SE.RA.PH., Agartha... Not only those, but the Meiji Restoration Singularity, Onigashima, Himeji Castle, and the Underworld Plague. Light was certainly kept busy. But their retirement - and payout - was in sight, if they could just make it to the end of the year.

...It was too much to hope for a neat resolution, wasn't it. A new Director bought out Chaldea, and all of its staff were to be arrested; Light was imprisoned on their own and subject to hours of interrogation as they tried to pretend they didn't know anything at all; and then, just when they were reunited with their coworkers to share a cell and await their fate together, Chaldea was attacked in a hostile takeover. Those who survived were far fewer than they had started the year with, and each loss was felt so, so keenly. The stars fell, and the absent Crypters announced the end of the Human Order - of humanity's primacy, and its history.

Chaldea would have to fight several grueling battles in strange environments against alien Trees and ordained kings in order to restore Human Order - that is, Proper Human History. Each victory was a world erased, every person within it - all of their hopes and dreams - vanishing into a dream. Light stands, bowed but not broken, as Proper Human History's sole representative - no matter the ideology behind each Lostbelt, they should fight for their own world - for their right to live.

profile information

Physical: Stands at 5'10 with a chubby build, though they've slimmed since their first venture into Chaldea. Perpetually tired appearance, despite trying to sleep well. Has high endurance and surprising speed, but lacks in physical combat abilities, despite training.

Magical: Able to use magecraft through the use of mystic codes, but is unable to access their magic circuits without outside assistance. They have high synchronization with Servants, however, and Servants are able to access their magical supply more easily than Light is able to access it.

Combat: Trained in physical combat, but lacks physical prowess. Carries a firearm for self-defense against humans and monsters.

Other: Wears a specialized mystic code called the "Chaldea Grand Round Mystic Code", which is able to forcibly draw out their mana to temporarily summon Servants. The Grand Round Mystic Code is also equipped with a conceptual weapon called the "Black Barrel", which, when deployed, can measure out and destroy a target's lifespan - even on immortal foes - but at a deep physical cost to the user, drawing on Light's own life-force to create the "bullets".
