lost memories swell and pour from hollow eyes...

The first thing Edel remembers is crawling out of a pool of Dissolution in the deepest part of Mythag—memories completely cleaned, flapping their wings and moving their limbs sporadically like a child still learning to walk—with only a Silver Key on their person. Mythag's security forces quickly secured them and ascertained their existence: someone neither Awakener nor completely human, suffused with Tawil's essence and bestowed with a Key. Edel, as they were named by Mythag's head staff, was imprisoned within Mythag for the two years it took them to undergo schooling and regain an understanding of the world around them, and find a way to communicate, as their voice no longer worked, if it ever had in the first place. Once they completed their remedial courses, Edel was allowed to become a Keeper and Link with Awakeners to carry out investigations into Dissolution activity.

Their first investigation took them into the Rogers Wax Museum alongside the Keeper Sylvester and his partner, Ramona. It's here Edel first came in contact with Pandia, who would later become their staunchest ally Awakener. Their second investigation, alongside their junior Mette who was sent as their overseer, took them to a castle compound where they met Kyrios, who seemed a typical preacher—until his flock began succumbing to Dissolution, "purified" by his hands. Their third investigation took them to an inverted tower venturing deep into the earth, where cavernous cenotes opened up into an underground world... Wherever they go, it's guaranteed never to be a typical trip.

Kyrios presents himself as a preacher to a small compound of devotees who seek God in seclusion, away from the outside world. In reality, he is the leader of a Lightbearers offshoot cult wielding Dissolution with the goal of cleansing the world and crowning himself its king. He has a strong interest in the occult, and was born to an ancient lineage, though he has little to do with them now.

During his first meeting with Edel, he saw through their disguise and marked them out as a perfect icon, would that he could bend them to his will; he then kidnapped them and experimented on them with a representative from the Sculptors' Guild, but was thwarted by Pandia's interference. His path continues to cross with Edel as Edel's investigations takes them closer to the heart of Kyrios's research...

Edel and Pandia first met during Edel's investigation into the Rogers Wax Museum, where she was working under Rogers at the time. She later escaped from Mythag with Rogers in tow, but was drawn back to Edel's spirit and saved them from Kyrios's experimentation, becoming their first linked Awakener to fight off the waves of Dissolution. The two work together well, though Pandia struggles to understand and process her romantic feelings.

Edel woke Karen from her sleep by accident, touching her Silver while assessing castle ruins. She rushed to Link with them even without a body, forming her own body out of sludge and standing water to finally speak with them. She obtained a proper body at Mythag, though her lower half loses its composition and melts into a water-like slime. She's eager to have someone to serve, though she tends to get in the way more often than she helps. Edel is the only person who can stomach her toxic cooking, and for some reason, believes it to be delicious.

Yako is a freedom fighter from Mars, fighting against Earth Sphere forces to give Martians the right to determine their own future. She's a part of the Maverick Unit, a small team of like-minded people who fly Mobile Suits known as 'Gundams' on missions to disrupt ESUN activities and protect Martian protests and strikes from retaliatory military attacks. However, as their activities became bolder, the Maverick Unit were targeted by ESUN as terrorists; one after the other, each member met their end believing they were protecting Mars's future.

Yako pilots the Gundam Vulpes, which comes with the ZERO-One subsystem, an operating system which allows its pilot to view near-infinite predictive calculations and often results in hallucinations or mental alteration. With the strength of her willpower and stubbornness, Yako is able to keep it under control by ignoring its predictions until they start to converge into certainty, though it took her a while to get used to it.

Laurel is Yako's commander, and the pilot of the Gundam Malleus. She has little patience for Yako's inability to follow orders, and after losing her brother, Juno, the relationship between the two becomes irreparable. Yako regrets not trusting her more.

Juno is the pilot of the Janus, a machine equipped with a Psycho-Coil which allows its user to control several external limbs/bits with their thoughts. Juno's machine was built not for combat, but for aid operations: search-and-rescue, escort, and protection. The previous pilot of the Janus, a girl named Hera, died from an aneurysm while activating its Psycho-Coil, and her psychic impression became trapped in the system—letting Juno hear her voice and accept her help piloting the Janus. He passed away overclocking his Psycho-Coil to protect a colony from a laser attack.
